Hi all

I have a problem with my Galaxy remote key. Its a 52 plate. The last service was done a year ago by Frauds and they replaced the batteries on the fob. Since then it has never worked and they wont accept any knowledge saying they just replaced the batteries.I have put up with it since but now selling the car and the buyer wants this fixed. I found on this forum that the batteries should be CR 2016 ....This differs from the ones I took out which were CR 2025 - put in by them. There isnt any little metal shim between the batteries. The led flashes when you press lock and unlock - but doesnt seem as bright as I remember it. Anyway, I have unlocked the car with all windows closed etc. With key in drivers lock I have turned to right and back 3 times, the door light illuminates to indicate learning mode. Take key out I press and hold unlock button and press lock button 3 times then let go of both. The led on the fob flashes about 4 times and the led on the door just stays illuminated then goes off after about 10 more seconds. Is this the right process? The fob remote still does not open or lock the car. Any help appreciated. I know this subject has been on here a few times put Im pulling my hair out( whats left of it).

Can confirm CR2016 are the correct battery, perhaps start by getting correct battery's they are widely available without going to Fords, make sure PATS chip doesn't fall out.

Thanks guys

I can confirm I am now using CR 2016 batteries. The handbook says hold down lock button on fob and press unlock 3 times. I do this and nothing happens. On another thread I saw it the other way round IE Hold down unlock button and press lock 3 times. I do this and my fob then flashes 4 times. I can't seem to get any further though, anyone any ideas. Do I need a spacer between the batteries or will bit of foil do.Thanks again.

Battery shouldn't make too much difference if voltage the same. I think they are just slightly different thickness....

If the light flash when you press the buttons there's power there. Sounds to me like the transmitter isn't working. I had this problem. Programming sequence didn't work but lights flash when button pressed.

Look on ebay for a replacement. Make sure its the same type / frequency etc them program as per game book and hey presto.....

Worked for me

CR 2016 = 20 mm wide x 1.6 mm deep CR 2025 20 mm wide 2.5 mm deep Etc all should have nominal voltage of 3v if it fits in it could work but may put undue pressure on some part of pcb or even damage tracks so always best to go for right one

sounds like you may have a faulty key

do you know a radio amateur or anyone who could check key is transmitting ?

best of luck

Right guys got another one from fleabay - its not Fraud one but Im told by seller Fraud/VW/Seat all the same. Its on 433 Mhz. Two things come into play now, 1 is that the lock and unlock button are the other way round and secondly the blade off my key does not fit onto this one. Also tried the same process as above and nothing. I feel like giving up - again.

The programming sequence can be and arse. I did it a few time's before it worked. Not sure about what you've bought though. Think what I got was off a seat and it was identical other than the logo...
